Korean Bulgogi 불고기 Beef Pizza

One bite of Korean Bulgogi 불고기 beef pizza will change your life forever. Bulgogi refers to meat that is thinly sliced, marinated in sauce then grilled on a barbecue or stove top. Beef is called sogogi 소고기 in Korean. This is one of Korea’s classic and popular pizza choices and one that everyone should try.

I don’t know what is it about the beef in Korea but it is one of the most delicious meats I’ve ever tasted. I was curious about its rich flavor so I asked many Koreans about the secret to the bulgogi taste. Many confirmed that before the beef is cooked it is soaked in grated pears or apples. This gives the beef a unique sweet taste.

Korean Bulgogi Beef Pizza from Pizza Orsae (Cost: 15,000 won approx $13 – $14)

Recently I ate bulgogi beef pizza from the chain store called Pizza Orsae. This one was very good. It was very interesting because the crust was very flaky almost like a fluffy pastry, then there was a ring of mashed sweet potato before biting into the cheesy area. It also had pieces of corn, green peppers and mushrooms.

Korean Bulgogi Beef Pizza from Goobne

So far my favorite bulgogi beef pizza is from the chain restaurant Goobne. (I’m not sure if pizza is offered at international locations.) They are known as Korea’s No 1 place for oven roasted chicken, and it is undoubtedly very good. You can find Goobne all throughout Korea, and some in Australia, Hongkong and Indonesia. The pizza I ate had potatoes on it. It was a bite of heaven, and very delicious, masisseoyo 맛있어요.

Keep in mind, not all bulgogi beef pizza is made the same. I had a not so good one once. Always do your research or ask for recommendations. Great news: if you’re on a budget, frozen bulgogi beef pizza is sold in some supermarkets.
